Cosmological back-reaction of baryons on dark matter in the CAMELS simulations
Published in MNRAS, 2026
We investigate the cosmological back-reaction of baryonic processes on the dark matter distribution using the CAMELS suite of cosmological simulations. By comparing hydrodynamical runs against their dark-matter-only counterparts across a wide range of astrophysical and cosmological parameters, we quantify how AGN and stellar feedback modify the dark matter density field. We find that baryonic back-reaction is strongly dependent on feedback strength and imprints measurable signatures in halo profiles, two-point statistics, and higher-order correlators relevant to weak lensing analyses.
